As work from home sets in, broadband speed, charges come under scrutiny in Bengaluru

With an unprecedented work from home experiment setting in across Indian cities as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, companies, employees and internet service providers are navigating how to deal with bandwidth issues, surge in demand, connectivity, speed and charges. Internet service provider ACT Fibernet has started upgrading speed of its broadband subscribers to as high as 300Mbps and providing them with an unlimited fair usage policy (FUP) until March-end. The Bengaluru-based firm is offering the benefits that can be opted directly through the ACT Fibernet app.

Broadband Plans That Will Help With Your Work From Home Needs

As fears of coronavirus spreading in the country mount, companies are providing their employees with the option of working remotely or working from home. This means that you will require a fast and reliable internet connection to ensure work goes about effectively while you’re on a video call with your boss or uploading an important document. ACT Fibernet, which became India’s first ISP to offer up to 1Gbps speeds, has offered special work from home benefits for its users. The company declared on Twitter that its existing customers will be able to upgrade their plans at no extra cost and avail unlimited high-speed internet and the bumped-up speed of up to 300Mbps. To avail this offer, users will have to download its app and accept the terms. While the company hasn’t explicitly stated that the move is due to the advent of Coronavirus, it certainly is aimed at those working from home. ACT has also said that the benefits will be available pan-India.

As more people work from home, broadband companies are offering free upgrades, routers and more

Several companies in India have asked their employees to start working from home due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. To make hay as a bunch of people work from home, broadband companies are now offering free upgrades and introducing new ‘affordable’ plans. Act Fibernet, one of the biggest broadband providers in the country, announced a free upgrade where users will get improved data speeds and unlimited FUP. While announcing the upgrade, Act Fibernet mentioned that the speeds will be increased to 300 Mbps and the FUP will be removed for the month of March. It is to be noted that users on the entry-level plan will get a speed of 100 mbps and unlimited FUP.
