The Internet peak traffic saw 40 percent rise in March in India and there was a significant spike in downloads and uploads per user, owing to the high volume of work and streaming content across all major cities including tier II markets, says a new report. While the average downloads increased by 66 percent per user per month, the average uploads surged at 37 percent per user per month, according to ‘State of Internet Traffic Trend' report by ACT Fibernet, one of India's largest wired Internet Service Provider.

ACT Fibernet on Friday released its State of Internet Traffic Trend report which measures traffic data between February, 2020 and April, 2020. According to the report, ACT Fibernet saw a 40% increase in the peak traffic in the month of March. On one particular day in March, ACT Fibernet’s 98.7% of its subscriber base was online. The broadband company also reported a growth in demand for data in all key cities including the Tier II.

ACT Fibernet has today released its State of Internet Traffic Trend findings. The data is based on overall traffic data measured from February - April 2020 and outlines key trends on data consumption and internet usage during this period. According to the findings, there has been 40% increase in peak traffic in March. One of the most interesting revelations that came from the findings was on a particular day in March for the first time, 98.7% of entire ACT Fibernet subscriber base was concurrently online.

ACT Fibernet discontinues its partnership with Hooq

ACT Fibernet has revealed that it is discontinuing its partnership with streaming service HOOQ. The news came after HOOQ announced that it has shut down its operations. The operator said, “This is to inform you that due to HOOQ shutting down its operation in India, ACT Fibernet will be discontinuing its association with HOOQ going forward.” The operator has also revealed that users will not be billed for service effective May 01, 2020. The whole news came into limelight when HOOQ revealed that it is shutting down its operations.
